We know that they’re lots of fun, but we also have them because they’re learning tools; effective literacy includes activities that reinforce each other. Have you thought about tying your Legos to 3D modeling? Whether you already have a 3D printer or are planning to get one, Tinkercad, an online entry-level 3D modeling site and community, just launched a cool new feature, BRICK view. It shows how to build your models with Legos. Animations show the build layer by layer, simulating 3D printer function in an elementary way. I tinkered with it and I see high potential for tying Legos – a long-time favorite activity – to 21st century digital skills. Not yet started or want to learn more about Tinkercad?
