The NASA count down says the eclipse is 2 days and 18 hours from first contact in Oregon. Here at WLS we’ll be ready at 1:23 PM when the eclipse starts in Westchester.

  • Using a receiver and antenna that Rob and I built in the Innovation Lab, we will collect radio wave data for the EclipseMob project, a crowdsourcing effort to learn about the effects of light on the ionosphere. NASA information here.
  • One of the safest ways to view the eclipse is through a projected image. There’s still time to print from NASA’s files to download for 2D and 3D printable versions. Both kinds are easy and safe to use: with your back to the sun, hold the viewer 2-3 feet off the ground and see the projected image of the partial eclipse.

I’ll report back on  our activities on Tuesday. I’d love to hear how you celebrate with your communities!
