New Locations: lochistore (for local history items that are in storage)
makerspace (for makerspace items). These are not holdable!
New I-Type: kit-jmaker (for makerspace items, i.e. Legos) These are not holdable and they circ
for 2 weeks
Projects:
1.) Adding magazines to the bib record so that microfilm, microfiche and other holdings will start to show up online
2.) Online bill pay. This is not ready yet but will be soon as they are awaiting results of the final test.

  • The default setting in Enterprise will have all bills checked off. The patron can unselect bills they do not wish to pay.
  • There will be a terms and conditions page that the patron must agree to.
  • It will ask for payment information and then email a receipt to the patron.
  • There is a processing fee which the patron pays for each new transaction. It is not clear how much the fee is.
  • Once a bill has been paid, it will show up in Sirsi as “onlinepay”

* Currently there is no option to print a confirmation once the bill has been paid.
Libraries should use their discretion if a patron claims to have paid online but the bill is still on their record. *

  • The money collected will be distributed according to the owning library of the
    items that were paid for.
  • WLS will cut checks to the libraries quarterly but this can change based on how much the online service is used.

3.) WLS’s offices will be moving to 570 Taxter Road in Elmsford. It is 3 minutes down the road
from their offices now and we will not have to be buzzed into the building. They are looking to
move at the end of June.
4.) Analytics is still being worked on and Allison is hopeful that by the second half of the year
she will be training staff on using it. Allison is also hopeful that Reports Station will still be
available for running simple reports.

Allison’s Report

  • Setting an item to DISPLAY means that item is not available to fill a hold. If you would still
like your display items to fill holds, use DISPLAYHO.
  • Please remove reports from LIBREP after completing the report
    http://it.westchesterlibraries.org/circ/policies/reports/
  • To change multiple items
    • Use the Global Modification wizard (in library Cataloging)
  Set the same Home Location, Item Category, etc. and scan each item
  Use the Print list helper to make a list of those items.
    • Use Call Number and Item Modification wizard
  Use the helper to limit by Location or item type
  Search by keyword/title and leave the search box blank
  The list of entries can be changed in order
  Rerun the search after all items are changed to see what (if any) remain
  • To set up Spanish language phone/text notices
    • Select Spanish on the Demographics Tab
    • Make sure PHONE is in the notify_via field on the Extended Info tab.
    • To set to text messaging, make sure patron’s cell phone number is in the phonefield – without parentheses around area code. Put an uppercase T in front of the number (i.e.Txxx-xxx-xxxx).
  • Set Item Search and Display to display Call Number and Item tab by default
    • Right-click the wizard to open Properties
    • Scroll to the bottom to choose the Tab Display Preference
  • Search for magazines in Enterprise
    • Method 1: Search for periodicals. Limit by Material Type magazines and your library.
    • Method 2: Use Advanced search. Enter keyword periodicals. Limit by Continuing Resources and library (optional). In results list, limit by material type magazine.
      • Library Limiter comes from item information.
      • 927 tag Holdings Limiter comes from the Bib record

Success Stories:
 Carolyn Taylor from MAM is retiring on May 31. We wish her well!
 SOM fax number is (914) 232-1035

Disscussion:
Guest Passes
 There was a question if any library puts a limit on guess pass usage. The general
consensus was that there was no limit.

Placing Holds
 Melanie explained that a patron will get their home library’s book before anyone else in
the county as long as they are picking up at their home library as well. There
is an algorithm in use to determine when a patron will receive an item that is
on hold and has a long holds queue. A patron’s number in the queue is an estimate.

The next meeting is on September 8, 2016 in WLS’s new building on the 4th floor.

CHA will take minutes.

Have a nice summer!
