All the News That’s Fit to Print?
Have you used PressReader, the new WLS news eResource yet? It has a stream of up-to-date international papers and magazines, so it’s easy to read about top news stories and search for articles about current topics and newsworthy people. From the Dayton Daily News to the Hindustan Times, it’s easy to see that Mary Tyler Moore affected people worldwide.
It’s easy to navigate and search for articles about a topic. Click a green arrow to expand and read a complete article, or click the menu for more options. You can copy, print, or share an article – you can even listen to or translate it into another language.
PressReader is available in the library and at home with access links available on the WLS website, on the Listen, Read & Watch page and the Research page. Patrons can access it on their desktops and mobile devices. You can read English or one of the 58 original language publications. Use it for digital and news literacy to fight “fake news,” use it for language learning, and use it to keep up with everything from finance to fashion, animals to automotive. What will you read?
The app requires an email address and password. How do you suggest a patron start?
The best bet is for a patron to sign up on a desktop computer first and follow up by logging into her account on her mobile device. Publications can be downloaded for offline reading, and there’s even an option to automatically download new issues when they’re available. The app recommends downloading while on wifi to avoid data charges.
According to the WLS site, Press Reader at Home is available in-library only. Is this accurate?
We’ve been actively promoting all our e-resources, and it’s important that everything is fully up and running before we start promotions.
“PressReader at Home Library card required – delivers an endless stream of top news stories to read, discuss and share. Get full issues of thousands of top newspapers and magazines just as they appear in print. Currently available in-library only.”
PressReader at Home is available at home. If you’re seeing otherwise, you may need to clear your cache and reload the WLS page. It does require a library card.
