Messages can be sent from WorkFlows to a patron’s Enterprise – My Account
http://it.westchesterlibraries.org/circ/how-to/send-a-message-to-a-patron/
- work in progress
- meant for pushing non-critical messages (left belongings, update phone number)
Missing last copy with holds report and process http://it.westchesterlibraries.org/circ/how-to/remove-last-copy-with-holds-report/
There will be a report produced quarterly – Remove Last Copy with Holds. It will be available on LIBREP. If a patron has an e-mail on their record, they will get a notice that the hold was removed.
SUPERVISOR settings: Property options to
- in Checkout – turn on/turn off alert that says that patron has previously checked out item
- in Checkin – turn on/turn off alert for claims return item
- in Checkin – override to check in item with multiple pieces BEFORE check in (will not work in self check). http://it.westchesterlibraries.org/circ/circulation-committee-meeting-minutes/circulation-committee-meeting-minutes-june-2013/
The “Number of pieces” field is set when linking. For Example: Your library has an audiobook that contains 10 CDs. In the “Number of Pieces” field you would put “10.”
There is then a box for you to type in “O” for override and you can either “Override & Return” the item (all pieces are there) or “Do Not Return.”
There were discussions about the following:
Please use restraint when naming patrons in e-mails.
Please initial and date (and library code if note not entered by the home library staff) any notes left on a patron’s records. Feel free to delete old notes. Also, be kind and discreet when writing notes. If a patron needs a printout of their record, it should be done from “Display Patron” or from Check Out using the printer wizard. That way you can choose what to print and exclude Extended Information.
Lost Notices in LIBREP – the suggestion was to save in NotePad, and then open in Word. It will make editing easier.
Museum Passes – some libraries allow non-residents to use passes if they become a member of the Library Friends group. Most only allow residents to borrow passes.
Croton Library has new cases for their music CD collection. They ask that the white paper envelope containing the CD be returned with the case.
Sometimes CD case are (or appear to be) locked when arriving to fill a hold. Please be kind if they have to be returned to the owning library to be unlocked.
WLS is testing a system that will allow patrons to pay their fines on-line. There will be a processing fee for this service.
Please replace barcodes that are worn and cannot be scanned. This will eliminate the need for manually entering the barcode.
If a patron needs to replace their library card, please ask them if they have holds on Overdrive. If they do, please note their old card number, new card number and name. Forward that information to the Help Desk. Also, ask them if they have a “My List” on Enterprise. They must e-mail that list to themselves before they receive a new card.
There was a discussion regarding patrons paying in cash for a lost item belonging to another library. It was suggested that the cash be forwarded to the Director of the owning library. Also call the owning library to let them know that cash is on the way.
Next meeting is March 10, 2016.
