Searching for shorts
Today’s NoveList Book Squad post is – not surprisingly – about summer reading. The titles on its printable poster, all less than 200 pages, are all owned by WLS libraries. It shows how helpful signing up for their reader advisory newsletters can be.
It also tells you how to search NoveList for books by length. You can add PG (page count) to searches to find books of only a certain length.
For example:
PG > 50 finds books over 50 pages
PG < 200 finds books under 200 pages
You can combine to find a page range: PG > 50 AND PG < 200
Following through the NoveList links leads to a handy cheat sheet and the complete list of field codes, so you can search not only by number of pages (PG), but also by starred reviews (RS), series name descriptions (ST), and even Dewey numbers (DN). This emphasizes NoveList’s searchability, one of my favorite features. What’s yours?
