Circulation Meeting Minutes

January 12, 2012 – WLS

New Location – Large Print Mystery

New I-Type – Flash Drive-J

Port Chester is now open. They have a new circulation desk, expanded juvenile area, two community rooms and an elevator.

Locking DVD and CD cases – they are arriving to fill holds locked. Please be sure to unlock items before placing in transit bins.

Greenburgh – due to budget cuts, no new books or newspapers. Impact on other libraries?

MTV – no budget for books.

WLS is purchasing and circulating books to help member libraries.

Items on patron’s records “Assumed Lost” from 2006 or earlier – check out to “Discard All” regardless of owning library. Don’t forget to cancel fines for patron.

***PLEASE*** place magazines in sturdy envelopes when returning to another library.

Receipt for fines paid – to show the amount paid on each item (instead of counting backwards from the total amount), pay each item individually instead of one lump sum.

50 cent fines for holds not picked up may be paid at any library.

DVD/Blu-Ray combo packs – it was suggested that they be broken into two items and circulated separately

Montrose – if DVD set has 4 or more discs, they are manually changing due date to 14 days (only MON items).

Montrose is NOT taking replacements for lost items.

Mamaroneck – comment regarding self check out – circ noteson an item are OK – a problem arises when an item requires an override. This happens when an item has “Associated Materials”. The patron needs to take that item to the circulation desk. To cut down on patron frustration, it was suggested that MAM put a note on the item so the patron knows it must be brought to the circulation desk.

Broken CD and DVD cases – complain to WLS delivery at wlsdelivery@wlsmail.org

Next meeting – March 8 at 9:30 at WLS, second floor. Future meetings – June 14, September 13, and November 8
