Circulation Meeting Minutes

 New I-Type	      Wii-J
 New Item Cat1	      CENTRAL_AV
                      This new Item Cat1 will be used when cataloging items paid for
                      with Central Library Funds (approx. $750-$1,000 per library)
 New location         J-STORAVAL. 
                      This is for juvenile materials that are in storage but can be retrieved for a hold. 
                      This is the only storage location that will allow holds.
  • WLS is not stopping lost item notices on March 1 as previously announced.

When they are discontinued, reports will be available on LIBREP. Training will be provided at an upcoming meeting.

  • When registering or modifying a patron, on the extended info tab, the choices for Notify Via are PAPER, PHONE, or EMAIL. Must be in CAPS.
  • Every library is getting Saturday transit delivery.
  • Circulation Meeting Minutes are posted on WIKI – forum.westchesterlibraries.org
  • Coming attractions: the circulation policies adopted countywide will be posted on the wiki.
  • If a patron needs to pay for a lost item owned by WLS, the check must be made out to Westchester Library System.
  • Correction: Both the juvenile and adult itypes for the wii materials do not allow holds or renewals and circulate for a week.

Discussions were held regarding

• internet only/temp/guest passes for internet use in the libraries.

• Kindle/Nook training for patrons by reference librarians.

• Please – NO TAPE ON ITEMS.

• Library procedures for closing at the end of the day.
Reminders

  • Make sure locked items (DVD’s, music CD’s) are unlocked when sent to fill a hold.
  • Damaged items – please don’t send damaged items to fill holds.
  • If an item is received to fill a hold and it has previous water damage, write in pencil near barcode ‘damage noted’ with date.
  • If an item from another library is returned with a missing disc, contact patron to have them return missing piece. After 30 days, return item to home library with a note explaining what was done to get piece back. Put note on patron’s record that the item has been returned to owning library. Date and sign note on patron’s record.
  • Patrons with a Yonkers Juv card can have fines forgiven on Juv items at Yonkers libraries.
